This was the best 4 days my brother and I have had in a while. Matt and Louis were awesome hosts and teachers. We have gained some great skills from this experience in a and we look forward to coming in again. A happy and friendly environment with a great bunch of people, I highly recommend this to anyone interested in blacksmithing.
Hardest and yet most rewarding days I have had in a long time.
But when the flames dance as you quench YOUR hammer head on that last day, it is so awesome!
Instructors Matt and Louis are fantastically patient and the class size worked well.
Highly recommended!
The concept of the class was make a tool to make a tool and that's exactly what we did. We began by forging a small punch that we then used to make the rivet hole for a set of tongs, that we then used to forge the rest of the tools including a drift, a punch, top and bottom fullers, a cupping tool a flatter and finally a rounding hammer. It was a fantastic four days with a great bunch of blokes masterfully taught by Matt Mewburn, blacksmith, teacher and all round good guy. I cannot recommend this and many of the other blacksmithing classes at eveleigh works enough. Do yourself a favor and sign up for a course.
