What a great 2 days
I learnt a lot of the basic forging techniques plus we made something really nice, something which I believe all the other attendees would have been proud of. The workshop was run beautifully, good clear instructions with assistance given when require, and thankfully those instructions enabled the attendees to create something really nice.
It was a very satisfying 2 days.
I learned the basics of blacksmithing while making a pair of coat hooks attached to a metal plate for mounting. Matt was very clear and concise in his instructions and incredibly patient and attentive. The forge is amazing with all that you could every want or need for blacksmithing. I will certainly book another course in the future and I would recommend it for anybody wanting to learn the basics.
I have always been interested in blacksmithing since I heard grandfather tell me of what he used to do. Having had little opportunity to take part in a blacksmithing activity, I was thrilled to receive a voucher to this course. Matt is an excellent tutor and ensured we all make a quality item over the 2 days. He was able to explain all the chemistry of the metal working and gave the required amount of personal attention so that all skill levels were catered for. I was so impressed with the quality of the classes, that I have signed up for 3 more - 2 of which will be with Matt. I would not hesitate in highly recommending this course.
