Absolutely must try for anyone who thinks they may enjoy it. Matt was very good at putting people at ease and explaining fundamentals. An excellent experience for literally anyone. Even if it ends up not being for you, I strongly recommend people get in and see how Blacksmithing works.
This course was everything I wanted it to be. A gentle introduction across a range of basic blacksmith techniques (tapering, bending, scrolling, fuller work). The pacing of the tasks was spot on throughout the two days. Our instructor (Piers) was always happy to advise, very patient and always made sure everyone was comfortable with the task at hand. Lining up to do the hammer making course next.
The Course was very helpful for someone like myself that had no experience working with tools let alone blacksmithing tools. Our instructor was very informative and knowledgeable not only about the work we did but on the origins of the works preformed in the workshop from back in the day. Great 2 day course I had heaps of fun and was happy with my own end product.
